Although Joseph Suder came from the piano and the instrument became very important in his chamber music, the number of piano works remained rather small. His only sonata originated already in 1918 and was fundamentally revised in the year of his death. The scherzo out of it has become a popular unique piece – à la Chopin. A group of pieces “nach alter Art” but also additional early piano compositions were revised in 1952 and later as well.
The last four piano pieces of 1952 are of outstanding expressiveness; they were published without single titles but for every piece the composer has written down corresponding headlines that as reference to the mood can be useful for the interpretation. He also transferred his waltz-cycle to two- and four handed piano.
